Under the warmth of the sun, her scales gleamed, as well as her pretty blue eyes, blinking curiously as she eyed the massive cliff she flew alongside of. So this was the edge of the world; not the entire world, but her world, their world. It was rather interesting to her; not the cliff itself, but rather, what was beyond it. The salty blue waters was all she could see. What lay further than that, she did not know. She wanted to know what was just beyond her reach, but figured it would be best to just stay at the edge and paint pictures in her head.
Tilting downward, she let gravity take her toward the shimmering water. She moved her hind quarters forward so she was almost vertical and flapped her wings, decreasing her speed steadily as she neared the water. Straightening out, she flew just a few feet above it, flapping her wings every now and then to keep airborne. She glided across the water, letting a single foot dip down, her sharp talons touching the water. Peering down through the crystalline liquid, she saw some fish swimming about and something else that looked like it may eat her if she didn't move.
Shifting upward, Elki flapped her wings steadily, lifting herself back up. She spiraled up and did a quick loop to straighten herself out. Flying toward the cliff, she glided down and slowed before outstretching her limbs to grasp the edge of the terrain. It crumbled underneath her weight, but she stepped up and raised her small head. Her wings remained outstretched high above her as she took a few steps forward and then turned. She moved back closer to the edge and brought her wings down, folding them against her body. Sitting down on her haunches, she curled her tail around her and stared out into the ocean, letting her mind wander. The sound of the waves licking the cliff wall soothed her as she sat and awaited what was to come, if anything.

[atrb=width,470,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][bg=655064] There was a wise man once by the name of Matt Shultz. In his own words, there ain't no rest for the wicked, and perhaps this was true. Perhaps more of this Matt said was true too, because he went on to say until we close our eyes for good.
Now, Coyle was no philosopher (or whatever this guy was, but he was sure he'd heard his name somewhere) however he was a thinking, feeling creature of immense and powerful intellect, and when you put it that way, being evil did sound kind of surly.
I mean.... no breaks? At all? Well what if you were immortal and virtually unkillable? Forced traverse the world until the end of time? What then, Matt?
In short, it sounded boring to do that whole wicked thing forever. Sure, Coyle was evil, but he wasn't always evil. Just... most of the time. And for all the major holidays. And especially when meeting new people.
Okay so maybe he was evil. Really didn't know where he was going with that... but anyways he was meeting a new person now, so time to look presentable!
That huge creature just below the water that the dragon had quickly avoided lurched up. Torrents drained off its frame as it dragged its slithering, scaly self up the rocky cliff that ended the world. And when it finally did crawl its way up the sinister rock cliff, it turned into something truly hideous - a small boy.
Coyle smiled at the dragon pleasantly and said "hello."

The waves of the salty waters were disturbed as a creature lived itself from the depths. Standing, she took two smallish steps closer to the edge and peered over, watching as the bizarre beast climbed its way up the wall of the cliff. It sparked her curiously, her pupils dilating slightly as the creature finally lifted itself up.
She noticed that it looked like the creature she had seen below the water before, but couldn't be too sure; many things lurked under there. Either way, it was up here now, with her. But, instead of proceeding toward her to rip her head off, it transformed into something quite familiar. Elki blinked and turned herself so she faced him, and she too, transformed into her second form, that of which was a human. Her long black hair cascaded down her back, while some was pulled over her shoulders. She blinked her pretty blue eyes and smiled right back at him. "Hi," she said, "I'm Elki.. and you are?"

[atrb=width,470,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][bg=655064] Oh, what trivial things names were! They only represented what things they spoke of... and yet what power did a name have but to name? Well.... apparently in this dimension names had a lot of power. Magical people, for one, used them to capture beings of magic - and there's that old saying sticks and stones for a reason. Why would anybody even mention a name in a stupid song unless they wanted to lie to you by telling you names couldn't break your bones? Lies, all of it! Names had power here, and he knew that now.
But where he was from, names were so insignificant as not to be invented yet. Kind came with the whole "dimension of goop creatures conjoined together as one" thing. He didn't place much stock in names... until he came here. Now he enjoyed the ability to be able to say his own name and be individual. Being part of the hive - or whatever gigantic single-minded organism he used to be - wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
"Coyle," the sweet voice crooned. People had always said Coyle had a sweet voice; and his angelic smile was all the more to his credit. Overall, he didn't look one inch the evil, intergalactic monstrosity that he was.
And that worked out well for him. Can't be all tentacled and such and still make friends. Well... he did kind of have tentacles in his true form... but that wasn't the point.
"Such a lovely pleasure, Elki... and what might you be doing here of all places? Dangerous stuff out here, I've heard. Bands of roving beasts and whatnot!"
At this, the beast giggled. He liked those things. Not that he was by any means the "beast" that he spoke of. See, unlike most beasts out here, he didn't have a habitat to stalk. The world was his oyster, and he was the evil pearl inside!
As if to demonstrate this, Coyle pointed a thumb at the sea behind him. The waves roared like one such beast, but of course the real danger was underneath the roaring waves - not themselves.
"See? Like in there! There are plenty of hungry things in there!"
And, after of course thinking of where he'd been in the last few seconds, he noticed he didn't quite pull his point across so well. He had been in there... and now he was talking all about the dangers of beasts and the sea that they inhabit, and generally setting himself up to be seen as evil.
Well he was... but he'd have done a better job of setting himself up if that was his point. So, to remedy this, he abandoned his pointing and held up his hands in a shrug.
"Alright, so I have to say this before you get any ideas. I'm not one of the beasts I'm talking about. Just a coincidence that I'm spouting all this and it all applies to me, see?" He shrugged again, flashing that sweet smile. "I just want to talk. It gets kinda boring in the deep blue sea with nowhere to go, ya know?"
