A tall, cheerful figure, Michel is of average weight for his human skin's permanent age of 29 years. His hair hangs past the nape of his neck, but just barely, and his bangs are swept to the side to keep them out of his eyes and away from his designer glasses. Usually, Michel puts a lot of time into his appearance, gelling his hair, picking out just the right outfit- which is hard, because the clothes he wears vary all the way from skinny jeans and an open white button-down to popped collars and fedoras, and he can never quite guess which style he should choose. Though he is always smiling, he keeps himself physically away from people and takes pains never to be in a crowd. Often, he will have a very embarrassed look on his face; that means that either he got flustered in a conversation or someone tried to touch him (like offering their hand for a handshake) and he had to turn them down.

Small, prim, and very attentive to his appearance, Michel looks something like a pure white Veery with especially glossy feathers. When it's completely dark, his feathers glow faintly, making it hard for him to hide while in his true form. His wings are rounded and fairly long for his body, giving him the small, cuddly appearance of a little street sparrow. However, as opposed to having the brown bill of the Veery, Michel's beak is bright red. Also, though he looks rather helpless, he can fly very quickly if he must, making him hard for predators to catch.

Michel Lafontaine is a shade more subdued that many people think he is- on first sight, one usually assumes that he is loud and effeminate, and that he likes to spend his time out at bars or in shopping centers. Most of that is wrong. Though he loves to shop for clothes, and he is fairly effeminate, Michel prefers the small designer stores to the crowded department stores, as he is mildly claustrophobic and averse to people touching him*. Also, he has never so much as touched beer in his life; he only drinks the more expensive wines that he can afford because his parents are rich.

His voice, rather than being loud, is usually delicate and soft, but at times becomes masculine for no apparent reason. Michel is a Romantic, and platonically loves just about anyone, regardless of gender or background. He gardens and greets people by blowing them a little kiss. Michel is well read, and can recite many of the most famous love poems at the drop of a hat. He keeps his eyes politely trained on the ground, has the tendency to always be blushing, and smiles a lot. He's gentle by nature, as most of his race are, and fairly awkward around other people, especially if they're the touchy-feely type. Still, he likes to chat (though he gets flustered often and starts to stammer awkwardly very often), and if someone asks him to do something or heal someone, he will do it without a second thought.

*His loathing of physical contact comes from his 197 years of experience, in which he has healed many different people of their illnesses or injuries. Some illnesses are passed on from person to person via touch, and injuries are almost always come by in this manner, and so, to prevent himself getting hurt or sick when he was younger, Michel started physically distancing himself from those around him. However, as he saw more and more injuries and illnesses, what started as a simple precaution to minimize the number of times he dropped his human skin eventually transformed into real aphenphosmphobia. Now he drops his skin and gets upset- to the point of being fairly inarticulate and shaking- if someone touches him. If someone offers him a hand to shake, or something along those lines, he gets very flustered and his mouth goes dry. This embarrasses him to no end, and he constantly apologizes to that person afterwards.
