Human Appearance: grey : pale : dark brown

Etienne is rather small, on the whole. He is barely five feet, and has an unobtrusive heart-shaped face. His light blue-grey eyes are almost hidden behind a set of neat spectacles, which he likes to wear even though he doesn't really need them. Though not a fighter, Etienne is strong in a wiry sort of way and is very good at cross-country running. His hair is long and straight, falling nearly to his waist, and he keeps it invariably tied back in a ponytail, occasionally with a ribbon. He is rather handsome, in a bookish sort of way. When he speaks, he has a slight English accent that only really crops up when he is talking fast. Always dressed neatly, Etienne prefers to look his best at all times. This means he is always immaculately clean and his hair and clothes are perfect. Fond of cravats and of waistcoats, Etienne is more than a little behind on the current fashions.
True Appearance: blue : white feathers with a gold tail : forty-one centimeters from beak to tail

In his human form, Etienne is short; in his true form, he's even smaller. Only forty-one centimeters from his head to the tip of his tail. He resembles a Fork-Tailed Flycatcher, excepting that his feathers are pure white. He also has more tail feathers than the Fork-Tailed Flycatcher, however, and they fade from white into a rich golden color at their tips. He has a bright yellow beak and keeps himself immaculately clean.

Personality

Trustworthy and hardworking, Etienne is a young man with a mature mind. He has good judgement, especially on the subjects of prose and poetry, and can wax eloquent on nearly any subject- that is, once you get him to speak. Though he can be the loyalist of friends, Etienne prefers not to talk to strangers or really to anyone. He would rather read than discuss, but will talk for hours in his light, smooth voice if one knows what to say. Self-described as a 'student', Etienne considers himself obliged to learn everything he can. He enjoys his studies, and is often immensely pleased with his ability to speak other languages. This serves him to read Dante, Voltaire, Juvenal, and Isaiah, along with several others. Precise, learned, neat, with a puristic nature, Etienne is fond of performing the role of the educator, believing that, to better oneself, one must study. He is gentle and severe at the same time, with a lovely passion for the right and a fierce loyalty to freedom of speech and other such rights.
To please him, all one must do is know a story, and he will listen for hours, no matter what it is about. Etienne is exceptionally fond of apples and of pears; his favorite drink is a sweet raspberry tea he mixes himself from herbs he buys. He can most often be found wrapped in a blanket at his home, or with a book under his arm in public. Docile by nature and reclusive by choice, Etienne operates in a very select circle of people. Having no occupation to speak of, he devotes his time to studying Socrates and other learned men. He occasionally feels that he would have been more suited for the 1800s, as his sensibilities, fashion, and speech are all rather outdated.
