Shoutoku is of pureblood lineage from Hokkaido, Japan. He has black hair and pale skin. He's of normal height. He's very skinny but well built even though he might not look it. As is normal for the Japanese, he looks more feminine than an Englishman.

The upper side of his wings is black, the underside being tan. The fur that covers his hindquarters is tan with brown spots. He has a black hood, shoulders, and back. His neck, breast, and stomach are tan. His ears come to a feathery point and his beak is silver with a black tip.

Shoutoku introduces himself in the traditional Japanese way: last name first, typically causing people to call him 'Soga' instead. He has a definite Japanese accent and his voice is on the deeper side of the ranges. He has mastered English, as well as a few other popular languages. He has been in the school for a long time and knows quite a bit about the happenings in Chimera Academy. He knows every student by name, even new ones. He is very cool and calculating although he is prone to have short outbursts of energy that are often mistaken as outbursts of happiness or moments of massive insanity.

He isn’t a very peaceful being as he doesn’t have the patience that some people do and the hunger of a hawk gets to him. If he doesn’t eat enough he will practically lose control to instincts. Another characteristic of a hawk that he has is that, even though he won't say anything, he doesn't like it when people face him. He would much rather have them standing beside him or at least facing away from him even when they are talking to him. He also likes his personal space and will lash out, whether with words or a shove, at those who, while facing him, don't keep a good two foot radius.

He isn’t that type that would date anyone. He can handle people very well but rarely shows preference as to who he talks with. There are exceptions, though. A good debate is always his cup of tea and he is a good listener and can often give good advice. He doesn't have any close friends and often doesn't understand the concept of close relations. He has his brilliant moments though.

He is sort of like his distant, distant cousin, Kendryek, but quite the bit younger and more fool-hardy (he has no idea how they are related nor does anyone else. Not even Kendryek can remember the details.).
