Jaedon cursed quietly as Neron completely routed her attempt at reverse psychology. It was depressing, after a while, that someone would know you so well that you couldn't trick them anymore. She was constantly having to think of new ways to trick him, but even then it was impossible to fulfill that to its final end. "Hey, at least I tried. I could just give up entirely, and then you would have no fun."
Jaedon nodded in understanding of Miriel's explanation. It was true. When Damion heard this news he was going to fly into conniptions. He would be so happy and terrified all at once, she could only smile as she imagined the look on his face. It would certainly be a sight to see. She then asked, "How far along are you? Or have you been able to figure that out yet?"
Jaedon gave Neron a smirk, "Never know. Keep digging your grave with me, and you might be supper next. I always have liked the black widows style."
She then looked at with wide and clueless eyes, "What? Is what true?" It took her a moment before it finally dawned on her. She was starting to feel drowsy and the effects were causing her to be slower than normal. "Oh, you mean me and Neron?" She smirked again and continued, "Yeah, he just asked me. After telling me that I looked awful and insulting me, he asked me to marry him and in my delirium I think I answered yes. We are officially engaged." She then shot her eyes to Neron, "Although he is certainly lacking a traditional sign of that promise. But considering that he didn't really do anything else the traditional way, that is fine."
"You have got to be kidding me?" Jaedon's head whipped back up to the door as she heard an all too familiar voice come from the door. "You finally asked her? I have been waiting on that for months. Way to time it, Neron. You were assured success from the beginning." Damion came over and looked down at Jaedon, "How are you feeling today?" He placed his hands gently on Miriel's shoulders and leaned down to give her a peck on the cheek, whispering in her ear, "Hello, Love." He then straightened back up and looked at Neron, "Congratulations, Neron."
"I am fine. Tired, but fine," Jaedon replied. She got a mischievous gleam in her eyes, pinning them on Miriel. She slowly reached out her hand and poked Miriel gently in the stomach, and impish grin lighting up her face. She was intent on poking her until she finally fessed up to Damion.

"I'm not exactly sure, probably around a month or so, but we can't exactly be sure."Miriel smiled. It was so strange, to thin that in the near future she would be a mother. The thought of it brought a smile to her face, but in the back of her head she wondered if she was ready. Could you ever be ready to be a mother? Sure she had a great husband would would be a great father and she would try to be the best mother she could. Still, a mother?
"Well then I guess that would leave you with all the children." Neron smirked at Jaedon.
Miriel laughed at the report of Neron's actions. "That seems to fit his character." She smiled at Neron. She playfully slapped him. "You could have been a bit more gentlemanly about it though. You know you better make up for the lack of a ring by getting her a stunner." At the sound of Damion's voice Miriel froze as a blush came to her cheeks again. Her stomach seemed to have dropped and feel a bit sick. There was no reason to be nervous, but she was, unbearably so. The world seemed to swirl a bit before her and she leaned against the table, her eyes wide.
"Thank's DAmion." Neron smiled. "I have been told I have great timing before, I guess it paid off." He shot a playful look at Jaedon.
Miriel responded with a smile to Damion's touch and peck on the cheek, but what snapped her out of her daze was a sharp poke in her stomach region. She straightened suddenly and looked at Jaedon. The impish light caused Miriel to feel herself returning to usual before playfully batting Jaedon's hand away with a mock glare of anger. Standing up to get out of Jaedon's reach she moved closer to Damion. "Just congratulations for Neron?" She paused and looked at Jaedon. "I guess that makes sense, JAedon you poor soul. Now you have to deal with him." She looked back at Neron. "You better be nice."
"Always." Neron smirked.
Miriel shook her head before glancing at DAmion and then down at the floor. "Oh...Damion..." She looked at Jaedon for a moment trying to get up her nerves. Then turning to Damion she moved a bit closer, still a bit shy. Looking up at him she felt her worry fade away. What was she worried about? Damion would be happy about the news. Putting both arms around his neck she looked into his eyes, feeling the strength she needed rushing into her. Toying with his hair like she usually did, she began with a smile on her face. "I went to see Cecily today, and she sends her congratulations to you." She paused as the color rose to her cheeks. The shyness returned but as much as she wanted to look down she wouldn't miss his reaction for her life. "You are going to be a father."

Jaedon looked at Neron with an angry glare at his retort before lashing out at him with her hand. She scrunched her nose and said in a miffed tone, "So you actually want children? I'll make you a deal, you give birth to them and I'll take care of them. At least they'll turn out more mature that way."
"Oh, what a marvelous idea, Miriel. I could really go for some Tiffany," Jaedon agreed. "How about an entire set? I love their emerald and diamond collection."
Damion watched as Jaedon's face lit up playfully. She looked like a kitten with a ball of yarn. He saw her poking Miriel and began to wonder what was going on. However, he was quite sure that Miriel would tell him in her own timing if it was something important. He smiled at her wit, "Yes, Jaedon, I think you are getting the raw side of the deal."
Jaedon nodded in agreement, "Yes. I'm afraid my only comfort - heaven forbid I say this more than once or else he'll never let me hear the end of it - is that he is at least slightly good looking. At least I can show him off as much as I want to." She poked her finger in Neron's direction, "Don't let it go to your head."
A smile spread across Damion's face as Miriel stepped closer to him. She was fixing to tell him something, a secret. He could always tell when she was fixing to confess a secret. She looked like an ashamed child with her hand still stuck in the cookie jar. When she wrapped her arms around his neck, he responded by wrapping his around her waist. She was so small and slim, she seemed like she would break if dropped.
"Yes, my love?" He said expectantly, waiting for her to finish her confession. If she was approaching him like this it had to be something very special. He was certainly willing to wait for that. His face became slightly confused when Miriel mentioned Cecily. Why was Miriel going to Cecily? Was something wrong? What could be wrong that her healing wouldn't fix? He stood there stupefied for a moment, completely speechless. What had she said? Could he have heard right? Was it possible? No, it couldn't be. Not this quickly...could it? His blank expression showed that he had completely missed it the first time around and that his brain was still processing the information. He eventually shook his head slightly and then looked at her, brow furrowed, eyes completely unbelieving. "Are you serious?" he asked. "You're-- you're pregnant?" He sounded like he could hardly believe it. "You're gonna have a baby!" he said as a huge, triumphant smile spread across his face. "You're going to have a baby!" He repeated as he wrapped her in a tight hug before kissing her passionately. When he pulled away he was grinning from ear to ear, "I am so happy, Miriel!"
Jaedon just laughed as she watched Damion's shocked expressions. He was certainly a sight to behold. She placed her hand on her side as she laughed though. It was starting to ache pretty badly. She wanted to ignore it, but it was hard when every single movement and breath sent pain through her. She sobered as she fought to choke the force of the pain down in her mind so that she could continue to enjoy her friend's company without them noticing.

"Well considering I am the mature one in this relationship...." Neron smirked. Her little slap hadn't bothered him one bit, if anything it encouraged him. HE than shrugged, "Well, I guess we will have to deal with the consequences considering me giving birth is physically impossible." When she mentioned the entire set Neron looked thoughtful. "If you are real good and get better soon. Maybe we can fly over there and take a look." Then she mentioned his looks. Neron couldn't help himself. "I knew it couldn't just be my irresistible charm." He smiled at her. "Don't worry you don't look to shabby yourself. If I didn't know better I would say you are borderline beautiful."
Miriel held her breath as she waited for a response. He looked confused and than blank. Wait for it.... It felt like an eternity before he said something. Damion still looked confused and disbelieving. It took a while before it finally started to set in. She started laughing at his reaction before he wrapped her in an enthusiastic hug. She kissed him back lovingly before resting her head on his chest. She felt like she could burst with happiness. They were going to be parents.
"Sorry to be a spoil sport but everyone out! " Cecily's voice rang out in the room. Moving close to Miriel she placed some herbs in her hand. "For the morning sickness dear." Than looked at Damion. "Congratulations. I hope you are ready for it. Now out! Go get mushy somewhere else. I more than I can stomach for one day. No, one year thank you. Now you." she pointed to Neron. "Out as well, you have a scissors to shop for." She paused, "And you may want to pick up a ring while you are at it." Her eyes shifted to Jaedon. Her patient looked tired and in pain. It was time for her to get away from the excitement and rest.

"How about I look at a catalog and then you go fetch it for me, slave?" Jaedon retorted to his mention of flying. Of course he would harp on that one. Then he started going off on the whole looks comment she had made. She knew that she was opening herself up for this, but she also really hated it. "What charm? I said nothing about you having charm. Your only good point is your looks, because it is certainly not your humor," Jaedon spoke as though she were in a foul mood. Jaedon rolled her eyes at him, "Sorry I am just mediocre, little lizard. But really, you wouldn't get better. I'm afraid most girls don't like scaled creatures."
Damion almost jumped when he heard Cecily come through the door. She always came out of nowhere! It unnerved him so. She was more stealthy than Jaedon sometimes. He nodded to Cecily, "Thank you, Cecily." He looked at Miriel and said motioned with one hand to the door, "Shall we, Love? I fear we might be banned from this place forever if we stay much longer."
Jaedon was sad to hear Cecily shooing everyone away. She was glad that they were here, but she had to admit that she was in need of some rest and some pain killers. They were so nice, pain medicines. They always worked quickly and efficiently. However much Jaedon didn't want everyone to leave, she knew that fighting with Cecily like this would be a lost cause. More than anything though, she didn't want Neron to leave. She wouldn't be selfish, though. He had been with her since she had gotten sick. He needed to go home and rest well for once, and hopefully, be refreshed.
She reached out for Neron's hand and took it with her still cold one, "You better buy her some scissors before she decides not to let you back in." The smile on her face said that she would miss him, but that she was tired as well. She needed rest and she knew he did too. "I would get bored in here without you."

"hmm I'm not sure about that one." He smiled. "Why, the charm that kept you enthralled with me." He took her hand as she called him mediocre. "I believe you just contradicted yourself" He looked at her and lowered his voice so only she could hear. "No reason to get so sensitive. I never said what border you were riding little witch, I guess I could say beauty doesn't do you justice, but that's to easy." He patted her hand before letting go.
Miriel sent one last look at JAedon and Neron before turning to Damion. "Yes, I think we should." She pulled away from his embrace but let her hand fall down to his, clasping it. Miriel lead the way out of the house, excited about talking about things with Damion in the privacy of their home.
Neron nodded. "You are probably right. I don't want to get on her bad side." HE frowned slightly at the thought of shopping. Looking down at her he smiled lovingly, all the teasing and playfulness left behind. "Oh, I doubt that Cecily will be here." He leaned in and whispered to Jaedon. "She can be amusing to watch, she's like a bee buzzing around here. She can also be fun to annoy."
"I heard that." cecily called from across the room.
"And she has bloody good hearing." Neron frowned for a moment as he looked at Cecily before turning his attention back to Jaedon. "I will return, save up your strength. You'll need it." He leaned down and planted a kiss on her forehead. "Love you." Then he was gone. As much as he didn't want to leave he had to admit he was exhausted. A nice flight and maybe some rest would do him some good, only being away from Jaedon and shopping darkened his view of the future.
The End
