Miriel could taste victory in her mouth, victory laced with revenge. Why, why did it taste so sweet? This time the fiend wouldn't be able to ruin another happiness, ever again. No, it was time to end this, and to honest, Miriel couldn't have stopped if she had tried. A blind rage had come over her, some call it the phoenix rage. She sought her prey and nothing could take her from it. Pinning her wings she plummeted down on Eventide, who was now hiding behind that wretched full bodied minion. No matter, both would be taken to a place of rest, eternal rest.
Her talon stretched forth grasping both together, then it closed. All of the talons crushed and pierced Eventide, one punctured her heart, the others crushed her spine and body. The life seeped out of Eventide and the minion crumpled to the ground, that is what brought Miriel back to her senses. Miriel stood, looking at the talon that held the two in with an unreadable expression. She had killed something, actually killed someone and it had been in a blind rage. The bodies were laid down on the ground and released as Miriel shifted into her human form.
She stood there, lonely, uncomfortable, one hand was grasping the others upper arm. It was a posture of uncertainty. They were dead. That was putting it lightly, obliterated, mauled, crushed would be more apt descriptions. It wasn't a pretty sight. Unlinking her arm from the other she drew closer, unable to keep the satisfaction from her eyes. She had done the right thing, she was sure of it. Kneeling down she placed her hand on the wound where Eventide's heart had been, now just a bloody mass remained. Her eyes shut and she concentrated reviewing what had just happened.
Miriel felt the power, the rush of going for the killing stroke, the anger and rage lacing everything all over again. She shuddered as she remembered the life being taken from Eventide. Her eyes opened. "Now you are subject to the world of your minions. Darkness has overtaken you and you will no longer feel, or live ever again. Your schemes and plots will be of no effect any longer." She pulled away her hand and looked at the blood that stained her white skin. "This blood..." She turned her hand, letting her eyes follow the drips that raced down, "Will forever taint my soul, my innocence for rage and anger poisoned my deeds. May I never kill in such a manner again." The blood on her hands erupted into flame and she gazed fondly at the fiery "creature". "Now it is time for you to rest, how fitting that both you and your minion perish and will be consumed together." Pointing her hand at Eventide and the minion's fallen form fire leaped from her hand, since it had licked the blood off cleanly, and landed on Eventides heart. There it danced happily, glad for carnage to consume. Then it spread rapidly covering both figures. "The fire that burns you in that of a phoenix's, it will burn you until gone and then will fade. You, unlike a phoenix, will not raise from the ashes a new being, but will remain ashes, forever." It said in a numb fashion, almost like a chant.
Miriel looked at the flames once more as the fire from her hand faded, leaving lilly white skin to be seen. The blood that had once been there was no where to be found. Then turning she looked about her. What was there to do now? The realization that she had killed someone was slowly seeping in, along with emotional instability. She took a step in the direction of where Damion would be but stopped. Her eyes drifted back to the fire. "Damion...forgive me." This time her eyes were glossy with tears. What had she done? The familiar words echoed in her head and she held up her hand that had been covered in blood before her. She could feel the sticky substance on it, even imagine the redness staining her hand, but it wasn't to be seen. "Forgive me." She took a step back, away from the fire, then another, eyes still locked on it. Then turning she ran, ran away. She ran away from what she had done, away from Damion, away from anyone or anything familiar. Think, she needed to think.
