That was relieving. She had dropped it. For now. She would probably come bug him about it in an hour or so. And then for the rest of the week, if not longer. He smiled to himself as he picked up his laptop and sat on his bed. She was always so caught up in any little funny thing about him, teasing him or taking advantage of it. What a cruel girlfriend…
But he still loved her.
Which was why he liked being teased by her. She enjoyed it, and he loved to see her smile. It was a win/win situation. So he would let her tease him, but he would be prepared for it. It would be (should be) easier to stand facing her if he knew it was going to happen.
He pulled up a few programs on his laptop and watched as the large screen on his wall came to life, showing data results from previous studies. Pulling a file from the stack beside his bed, he flipped through till he found the page he wanted and started inputting data.
There was a small noise by the door, but he ignored it. If it was Aeon, whatever. If he ignored her she might think it was important work. Which it wasn’t. But maybe she would think it was. And maybe she would leave him be.
Maybe, but most likely not. Ah well, naught to be done about it.

Aeon giggled impishly as she stood in the doorway, watching him work. Part of her was curious about what he was working on, and the other part was merely concentrated on being the cruel girlfriend that Shou has coem to expect her to be. She had an image to uphold, and if she wasn't teasing him enough she just might come off as understanding.
Gasp!
She pushed the door open further, making an audible noise. He didn't look up. Didn't even acknowledge her standing there. Her mouth, instead of forming a customary angry line curled into an evil smile. Immersed in work or no, he should know that Gunner did not take well to being ignored.
"Shou...? It was the quietest call, but he didn't respond... hmph! She really was being ignored. Well, she had just the remedy for that.
With a huff, she turned and walked away, only to turn back and jump as hard as she could manage on his bed. Aeon was content with what she had done, reaching up to pinch his cheek and look over to what he was doing, placing a hand to brace herself on his stomach. It wouldn't do for her to fall into his work. She'd headdesked enough to know what key sequences came when her head and a keyboard made contact.
"Whatcha doin'?" She asked brightly, giving the slightest evil smirk at her next sequence of words. "Not looking at naughty sites I hope."

He didn’t look up, but his fingers didn’t move over the keys like they had before. And since he really had to concentrate to work on this, he pulled up a screen and told one of his programs to run the computer generated experiment. He was still working on getting the amounts just right, but if the computer ran the math for him it would go much faster. Subsequently, he ran experiments when Aeon came in. It was the easiest thing to do, as the computer ran itself at that point.
He was watching the numbers go by when something flew at him. Well, not right at him, but close to him. It made him jump and his bed received the full shock of Aeon jumping. It took him a second to realize that she had accidentally unplugged his computer. Anger and frustration ceased him.
”Aeon! Look what you…” He stopped as he came face to face with her. Wow… she was… really close. ”Aeon…” he warned. Wait… had she just asked if he was looking at… naughty sites? What in the… when had he ever… he sighed and tried to ignore her proximity. ”You know, I would show you what I was working on, but you unplugged something and all my screens are black. Thank you, very much.”
Treating her with sarcasm wasn’t something he often did, but it was better than being infatuated with her. Being upset with her was just a distraction, though. His reason for sarcasm? Sarcasm was created to counter stupidity, and right now she was being very stupid. Sadly, her thick skull wouldn’t get the hint.
He got up and set his laptop on the dresser next to his bed. He shut it and sighed.
”Aeon…”
It sounded like a plea. A plea for what? He had no idea. There were too many conflicting emotions for him to decipher which one made him say her name so pitifully. He had a feeling it was a mixture both.

A slight frown tugged at the corners of her mouth. It wasn't her customary I-didn't-get-my-way frown, but more of a broken frown. Gunner knew enough about Shoutoku to know when he was unhappy with her, and when he was actually fully upset with something she had done or (in most cases) was doing. It was like being scolded, a little playful puppy being scolded for breaking something whilst vying for some attention.
Don't get the wrong idea, Aeon wasn't a small helpless little thing that absolutely never got any form of acknowledgement from her boyfriend. Perhaps she got more attention than he really should have been giving her, but she felt lonely sometimes. When he was busy, or when she really decided to let up.
She didn't want to admit that the sarcasm bit her. It really did. So she looked down at her hands and just fiddled with them. She felt small--well, she was small, but she felt smaller. Perhaps being the way she was wasn't the best thing. She had only wanted to tease him a little more, to have a little fun since she didn't have many friends here on this new island.
" 'M sorry..." Gunner muttered and looked up as he said her name in that odd pleading tone.
Aeon nodded and scooted away from him, dropping her legs down and standing. Perhaps she would curl up and wait for him to be finished working or something. More often than not she would just not talk to him until tomorrow.

The concern on his face was obvious, but she didn’t seem to be looking. No, she… wait… why was she… she was leaving? His worried eyes followed her as she walked out of the room. ”Aeon?” he called. ”Aeon, where are you going?”
After a second, he went after her. He hadn’t meant to upset her so much. Yes, he had been frustrated, but it wasn’t just because she messed up his work, but because she turned off his distraction.
Just as he walked out of his room he saw her door slam. So now she was going to lock herself in her room? What the heck! This wasn’t worth the drama! If she was going to cry and lock herself in her room again…
He sighed as he reached the door. He knocked. After no reply he tried the knob. Locked, of course. He backed up a step took a deep breath. He was gonna have to fix this later...
BANG!!!

Aeon walked out of Shou's room and down the hall to her own. It wasn't far from Shou's room, but it was far enough. Her door opened and she closed it once she was inside, turning and locking it. Her room was lightly furnished with her things from her dormroom. There was a light, a dresser and a soft swivel chair, along with a bookshelf of books and a large stuffed animal in the corner.
Gunner slumped down onto her bed, hearing it creak lightly. She felt hurt, though she wasn't quite sure why. It was like being unduly scolded for something she that didn't merit it. The young unicorn curled up on the matress and cried weakly. It hurt... she expected to be alone for the rest of the day... and maybe some of tomorrow.
She heard Shou knock on her door but ignored the sound. Just like he had ignored her voice as she called him she would ignore him. It was deserved.
But at the loud sound of him kicking her door in she sat bolt upwards at him, her eyes slightly pink and her cheeks wet with the salty tears.
"What in the--?"

He sat on the edge, his eyes showing his frustration and determination. There was no way he was going to let her sulk in her room alone. Her eyes were red and her cheeks wet, only proving his assumption right. She would be in here for days if he didn’t do anything about it. Him kicking the door down had stunned her enough to calm her for a second so he wanted to get what he wanted to say across.
”First, I want to apologize. I didn’t mean to get upset and it was wrong of me to snap at you.”
He paused for a second, letting that sink in. There was also the fact that he had said “first”. What was “second”? He… hadn’t really had two things to say, but it did seem like he should do more than apologize. His eyes unconsciously flickered to her lips. It was almost as if he had expected her to say something, wanted her to say something, so he was watching her. But in this watching, he wanted to kiss her. Kiss her and tell her he loved her.
So he did. All caution thrown to the wind, he leaned over and kissed her, short and sweet. Looking into her eyes, he smiled.
|
”I love you. Don’t ever forget it.” He kissed her again, longer this time. He shifted towards her and caressed her arm. As he kissed her neck he realized what was about to happen. He hesitated, then gave up. He just didn’t care anymore. [/blockquote]

Aeon watched him closely as he entered her room without her permission. As far as she knew he didn't do that. He asked and she would let him in if she was up to it. But he had forced himself into her room, perhaps for her own good, but still. She wanted to be alone. She wanted to sulk like an immature kid, but he wouldn't let her.
For her own good.
At the comment that he was sorry, she looked at him and attempted to smile. She couldn't say anything to him. It wasn't that she didn't forgive him, because she did, Gunner just didn't trust her voice to be used without croaking and cracking. So the unicorn just listened and let her eyes flicker to the door and wood chips splayed on her floor.
So she only noticed him moving out of the periphery of her eyes. When she realized and turned back, his lips pressed against hers and sme smiled as he pulled away. It's not like they never kissed. It was a kiss, in a way, that started their relationship. There was nothing strange about the short, sweet kiss.
"I love you too." She said softly, her voice strained, boardering on breaking, but nothing happened.
They shared another kiss, longer and the sound of her bed alerted her to the fact that her boyfriend had moved closer and the tingles up her arm alerted her to the fact that he was now touching her.
When Shou's lips graced across her neck, she froze. This happened to coincide to when he hesitated, but it was for a completely different reason.
Hendrix had raped her. And he had made sure that there was no part of her body that she could still feel was clean. Her brain short cicuited. She was scared. But in her couple moments of unresponsiveness she sighed softly, tilting her head so he could have more access to the tender flesh.
Shou had made her feel safe. He always had, and she saw no reason why this should be any different.

He couldn’t help but smile slightly as he re-dressed. He was quite satisfied, to be truthful, and quite happy. They now shared something deeper than a casual relationship. If felt good, knowing she had accepted him and trusted him. It meant a lot for her, he knew, to let him touch her.
A part of him wondered if she would consider sharing a room with him now. Another part forced him to save at least that for marriage. He had already broken one rule, but he would keep to the rest. And never break it again. He had a taste of what it was like so he would hunger for more later, but next time he wouldn’t have a good reason to throw his morals out the window.
He looked over at Aeon, now fully dressed, and smiled.
”I have to work now.” He spoke quietly, letting tenderness consume his words. Standing, he pulled his shirt over his head and ran a hand through his hair so it would fall into place.
He turned to walk out but a thought struck him. What if… oh boy, this could get messy. But, he should at least mention it to her, so that she would at least be thinking about it.
Turning back, he walked over to her and took her hands. ”So, what do you think we should do if you’re pregnant?” He smiled at her, a playful expression. ”Or shall we cross that bridge when we come to it?”
It was a straightforward question, and an obvious one, but she probably hadn’t thought about it. To tell the truth, he hadn’t really thought of it himself till now. It would only make sense if she was still a little caught up. He sure had been, but now his brain was working. It was time to think.

Gunner yawned and brushed her long hair. It wasn't as messy as Shou's had become, but it was frumpled and she found herself tugging a brush through the black sea and pulled it back into pigtails. It was funny. Nothing seemed to have changed, even through everything kinda sorta did. Shoutoku would go back to work and she would sit around and do anything she felt like (clean maybe) until he was finished and decided to spend time with her again.
Not like this of course. This, she already knew, was a lapse in Shou's usual methodical steps. Next things would go back to the way they had been until the time had come when he deemed her ready for marriage. She didn't care about that, really... he could propose when he was good and ready. She wasn't going anywhere anytime soon.
Rather than redress in her normal clothes, she had decided to just pull on a shirt and some shorts as she sat with her legs under her, listening to Shou as he stated that he would be going back to work. Just a wall... not even a thick wall.
Perhaps later she would oversee his work. At the very least he should be less on edge now, right? And besides, she didn't have much to do on her own.
To be completely honest, Aeon felt light as air. She had given herself to Shou and he had taken care of her. It was a wonderful thing.
Then he mentioned being pregnant and she literally did not breath for about 20 seconds.
No. No. No. Oh, for the love of all that is good and sacred, no.
Growing up her father had taught her to fight for the express purpose of avoiding pregnancy. She had been brought up believing that being pregnant, in or out of wedlock was a terrible thing. A painful, horrendous thing. Just that word made her feel ill. Sick. Dirty.
Pregnant.
It couldn't be, right? But she'd forgotten, this eighteen year old body could easily carry a baby. It was mature. It was ready but she wasn't, and she doubted that she would ever be ready.
But she didn't let all this panic show on her face. She merely smiled wide and kissed him. "We'll see when we get there... though I assume the answer is along the lines of 'having the baby.'"
Horses had a long gestation period, almost the entire year at roughly 11 months. Was it the same for unicorns? Or was it slightly shorter?
Once Shou was satisfied and left to go and do his work, Aeon went over to her bookshelf and pulled out a book on unicorns. It was a thick book--an equivalent of an anatomy book for her. She flipped through, her eyes glancing over diagrams and charts until she found the page she was looking for.
"Unicorns are different from horses in many ways as previously stated. Although unicorns do live together, they are rarer than horses and can be separated from their herd. When this happens the unicorn has a failsafe, allowing it to breed with any prospective mythical male."
She blushed at this, but continued reading. This wasn't what she was trying to learn, and figured that if it was in here then it should be somewhere in this passage. "Because any offspring would be a hybrid, the gestation period varies based on the male chosen. It's a simple calculation that takes the two gestation periods and averages them." Below this was a table of 'chosen' species and their values. Gunner examined it and found griffin. It measured their gestation at only around 2-3 months. Mental math... 6 - 7 months. She gave a soft shudder. It was only to be safe, she assured herself... but some deep part of her didn't quite believe that.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
